2020: A Design Studio's Year in Review

Kayla Phillips Design Logos Brands Visual Identities

As I reflect on this year, I think: wow, what a year! It seems like 2019 was a decade ago. But more than nearly running out of toilet paper or using hand sanitizer more than ever before, my heart swells with gratefulness for the growth that’s happened personally and professionally.

LOGOS + VISUAL IDENTITIES:
I was able to create visual identities for some incredible brands, including: executive coach, Nick Goodin, Your Plant Mum and stop motion artist, Stop Motion Darcy. I can’t wait to see where the coming year takes each one of them.

PACKAGING:
Previous to this year, I had only worked on a handful of packaging projects, but have made it more of a priority to seek out these jobs. I love the hang tags designed for Hello Headband, labels for Ritter Candle Co., and coffee bags coming soon to Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co.

ON GOING CLIENT WORK:
The Yellow Bear Foundation was a finalist for Peoria Journal Star’s Best of the Best Nonprofit Organization. They’ve been true gems to work with continually. And if you’re in the OKC area, I can’t recommend Tyler and my friends at Shine Window Cleaning enough.

PERSONALLY:
A friend and I launched Enneagram Shirts after discovering the lack of interesting and modern designs in the market. After several coaching sessions, Nick gave me the kick I needed to start working towards Pressed for Purpose. The #LoveWhereYouLivePeoria campaign, with the People of Peoria Podcast, was a smashing success, raising $1,000 for Peoria area small businesses and non-profits. Bonus, I got to be a guest on their show!

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2021:
I’m taking break from now until January 5, 2021. As soon as the studio opens back up, I’ll be hitting the ground running, on boarding 4 new clients. Not to mention, I’m looking forward to working on the projects I don’t even know about yet! Beyond client work, I’m hoping to provide greater eduction to businesses and aspiring creatives through my blog. And drumroll please….I’ll be moving into studio space early in 2021.

I’m still taking clients, both one off projects and on going retainer work. I love helping busy business owners and entrepreneurs by taking graphic design and marketing work off of their plates Please reach out if there’s any way I can help you beat the overwhelm:
